ܘܒܪܗܕܕ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܕܘܡ ܟܢܫ ܟܠܗ ܚܝܠܗ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܡ̈ܠܟܝܢ ܕܥܡܗ ܘܪ̈ܟܫܐ ܘܡܪ̈ܟܒܬܐ ܘܣܠܩ ܘܫܪܐ ܥܠ ܫܡܪܝܢ ܘܐܬܟܬܫ ܥܡܗ
emh w'thkthsh shmryn el wshr' wslq wmrkbth' wrksh' demh mlkyn wthryn wthlthyn khylh klh knsh d'dwm mlk' wbrhdd
Ben Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, with horses and chariots. He went up and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.

ܘܫܕܪ ܐܝ̈ܙܓܕܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܚܒ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ

He sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel and said to him, “Ben Hadad says,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܟܣܦܟ ܘܕܗܒܟ ܕܝܠܝ ܗܘ ܘܢܫ̈ܝܟ ܘܒܢܝ̈ܟ ܕܫܦܝܪ̈ܝܢ ܕܝܠܝ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn dyly dshpyryn wbnyk wnshyk hw dyly wdhbk kspk brhdd 'mr hkn' lh w'mr
‘Your silver and your gold are mine. Your wives also and your children, even the best, are mine.’”

ܘܥܢܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܝܟ ܦܬܓܡܟ ܡܪܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܠܟ ܐܢܐ ܘܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܝ

The king of Israel answered, “It is according to your saying, my lord, O king. I am yours, and all that I have.”

ܘܗܦܟܘ ܐܝ̈ܙܓܕܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܕܫܠܚܬ ܠܟ ܒܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܕܟܣܦܟ ܘܕܗܒܟ ܘܢܫ̈ܝܟ ܘܒܢܝ̈ܟ ܬܬܠ ܠܝ

The messengers came again and said, “Ben Hadad says, ‘I sent indeed to you, saying, “You shall deliver me your silver, your gold, your wives, and your children;

ܡܚܪ ܠܗܢܐ ܥܕܢܐ ܐܫܕܪ ܥܒ̈ܕܝ ܠܘܬܟ ܘܢܒܨܘܢ ܒܬ̈ܝܟ ܘܒ̈ܬܐ ܕܥܒ̈ܕܝܟ ܘܟܠ ܪܓܬܐ ܕܥܝܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܢܣܒܘܢ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܘܢܐܬܘܢ
wn'thwn b'ydyhwn nsbwn deynyhwn rgth' wkl debdyk wbth' bthyk wnbtswn lwthk ebdy 'shdr edn' lhn' mkhr
but I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they will search your house and the houses of your servants. Whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they will put it in their hand, and take it away.”’”

ܘܩܪܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܣ̈ܒܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܥܘ ܘܚܙܘ ܕܒܝܫܬܐ ܗܘ ܒܥܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܫܠܚ ܠܝ ܥܠ ܢܫ̈ܝ ܘܥܠ ܒܢܝ̈ ܘܥܠ ܟܣܦܝ ܘܥܠ ܕܗܒܝ ܘܠܐ ܟܠܝܬ ܡܢܗ
mnh klyth wl' dhby wel kspy wel bny wel nshy el ly dshlkh hn' be' hw dbyshth' wkhzw dew lhwn w'mr d're' sb' lklhwn d'ysryl mlk' wqr'
Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, “Please notice how this man seeks mischief; for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I didn’t deny him.”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܣܒ̈ܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܠܐ ܬܫܡܥ ܘܠܐ ܬܬܛܦܝܣ

All the elders and all the people said to him, “Don’t listen, and don’t consent.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐܝܙ̈ܓܕܐ ܕܒܪܗܕܕ ܐܡܪܘ ܠܡܪܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܟܠ ܕܫܠܚܬ ܠܥܒܕܟ ܒܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܘܦܬܓܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܥܒܕ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܐܝ̈ܙܓܕܐ ܘܐܬܝܒܘܗܝ ܦܬܓܡܐ

Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do, but this thing I cannot do.’” The messengers departed and brought him back the message.

ܘܫܠܚ ܠܗ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܥܒܕܘܢ ܠܝ ܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܢܘܣܦܘܢ ܠܝ ܐܢ ܢܣܦܩ ܥܦܪܗ ܕܫܡܪܝܢ ܫܘܥܠܐ ܫܘܥܠܐ ܠܥܡܐ ܕܥܡܝ

Ben Hadad sent to him, and said, “The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria will be enough for handfuls for all the people who follow me.”

ܘܥܢܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܠܘ ܠܐ ܢܫܬܟܚ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܐܣܪ ܐܝܟ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܫܪܐ
dshr' mn 'yk d'sr mn nshthkkh l' mllw w'mr d'ysryl mlk' wen'
The king of Israel answered, “Tell him, ‘Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܗܘ ܫܬܐ ܗܘܐ ܘܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܒܡ̈ܛܠܠܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܣܝܡܘ ܡܣܡ ܥܠ ܩܪܝܬܐ

When Ben Hadad heard this message as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, he said to his servants, “Prepare to attack!” So they prepared to attack the city.

ܘܗܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܚܕ ܩܪܒ ܠܘܬ ܐܚܒ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܙܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܗ ܠܗܢܐ ܟܠܗ ܚܝܠܐ ܪܒܐ ܗܐ ܡܫܠܡ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܒܐܝ̈ܕܝܟ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܘܬܕܥܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ

Behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand today. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܚܒ ܒܡ̇ܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܒ̈ܥܠܝܡܐ ܘܒܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܢܘ ܢܣܕܘܪ ܩܪܒܐ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܬ
'nth lh 'mr lwqdm qrb' nsdwr mnw lh w'mr dmdynth' wbrwrbn' belym' lh w'mr bmn 'khb w'mr
Ahab said, “By whom?” He said, “Yahweh says, ‘By the young men of the princes of the provinces.’” Then he said, “Who shall begin the battle?” He answered, “You.”

ܘܡܢܐ ܠܥ̈ܠܝܡܐ ܘܠܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܗܘܘ ܡܐܬܝܢ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܠܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܫܒܥܐ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ
'lpyn shbe' 'ysr'yl bny wlklhwn em' lklh mn' wbthrhwn wthryn wthlthyn m'thyn whww dmdynth' wlrwrbn' lelym' wmn'
Then he mustered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two. After them, he mustered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.

ܘܢܦܩܘ ܒܛܗܪܐ ܘܒܪܗܕܕ ܫܬܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܬܝܩܐ ܒܡ̈ܛܠܠܐ ܗܘ ܘܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܕܐܬܘ ܠܡܥܕܪܘܬܗ
lmedrwthh d'thw wthryn thlthyn wmlk' hw bmTll' ethyq' hw' shth' wbrhdd bThr' wnpqw
They went out at noon. But Ben Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings who helped him.

ܘܢܦܩܘ ܥ̈ܠܝܡܐ ܘܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܒܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܘܫܕܪ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܘܚܘܝܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܗܐ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܢܦܩܘ ܡܢ ܫܡܪܝܢ
shmryn mn npqw gbr' h' lh w'mrw wkhwywhy brhdd wshdr bqdmyth' dmdynth' wrwrbn' elym' wnpqw
The young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben Hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, “Men are coming out from Samaria.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܢ ܠܫܠܡܐ ܢܦܩܘ ܐܚܘܕܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܟܕ ܚܝ̈ܝܢ ܘܐܢ ܠܩܪܒܐ ܢܦܩܘ ܟܕ ܚܝܝܢ ܐܚܘܕܘ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn 'khwdw khyyn kd npqw lqrb' w'n khyyn kd 'nwn 'khwdw npqw lshlm' 'n w'mr
He said, “If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

ܘܗܠܝܢ ܢܦܩܘ ܡܢ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܥ̈ܠܝܡܐ ܘܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܚܝܠܐ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ
bthrhwn wkhyl' dmdynth' wrwrbn' elym' mdynth' mn npqw whlyn
So these went out of the city, the young men of the princes of the provinces, and the army which followed them.

ܘܩܛܠܘ ܓܒܪ ܓܒܪܗ ܘܥܪܩ ܐܕܘܡ ܘܪܕܦ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܬܦܠܛ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܕܘܡ ܥܠ ܡܪ̈ܟܒܬܐ ܘܦܪ̈ܫܐ
wprsh' mrkbth' el d'dwm mlk' brhdd w'thplT 'ysryl 'nwn wrdp 'dwm werq gbrh gbr wqTlw
They each killed his man. The Syrians fled, and Israel pursued them. Ben Hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with horsemen.

ܘܢܦܩ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܚܪܒ ܪ̈ܟܫܐ ܘܡܪ̈ܟܒܬܐ ܘܡܚܐ ܒܐܕܘܡ ܡܚܘܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܕܛܒ
dTb rbth' mkhwth' b'dwm wmkh' wmrkbth' rksh' wkhrb d'ysryl mlk' wnpq
The king of Israel went out and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Syrians with a great slaughter.

ܘܗܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܩܪܒ ܠܘܬ ܐܚܒ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܙܠ ܐܬܚܝܠ ܘܕܥ ܚܙܝ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܐܢܬ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܗܦܟܬܐ ܕܫܢܬܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܕܘܡ ܣܠܩ ܥܠܝܟ

The prophet came near to the king of Israel and said to him, “Go, strengthen yourself, and plan what you must do, for at the return of the year, the king of Syria will come up against you.”

ܘܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܕܘܡ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܕܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܘ ܙܟܐܘܢ ܒܪܡ ܢܬܟܬܫ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܒܦܩܥܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܢܙܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn nzk' 'l' bpqeth' emhwn nthkthsh brm zk'wn hw hn' mTl 'lhhwn dTwr' hw 'lh' lh 'mryn d'dwm dmlk' webdwhy
The servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we. But let’s fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they.

ܘܦܬܓܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܥܒܪ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܓܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܬܪܗ ܘܐܩܝܡ ܫ̈ܠܝܛܢܐ ܚܠܦܝܗܘܢ
khlpyhwn shlyTn' w'qym 'thrh mn gbr mlk' 'ebr ebd hn' wpthgm'
Do this thing: take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their place.

ܘܐܢܬ ܡܢܝ ܠܟ ܚܝܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܚܝܠܐ ܕܢܦܠ ܡܢܟ ܘܪܟܫܐ ܐܝܟ ܪܟܫܐ ܘܪ̈ܟܒܐ ܐܝܟ ܪ̈ܟܒܐ ܘܢܬܟܬܫ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܒܦܩܥܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܢܥܫܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܘܫܡܥ ܠܩܠܗܘܢ ܘܥܒܕ ܗܟܢܐ

Muster an army like the army that you have lost, horse for horse and chariot for chariot. We will fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they are.” He listened to their voice and did so.

ܘܗܘܐ ܠܗܦܟܬܐ ܕܫܢܬܐ ܦܩܕ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܠܐܕܘܡ ܘܣܠܩ ܠܐܦܩ ܠܡܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ

At the return of the year, Ben Hadad mustered the Syrians and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel.

ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܬܡܢܝܘ ܘܐܣܬܕܪܘ ܘܩܡܘ ܠܘܩܒܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܙܪ̈ܝܢ ܕܨܦܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܥ̈ܙܐ ܘܐ̈ܕܘܡܝܐ ܡܠܐܘܗ ܠܐܪܥܐ
l're' ml'wh w'dwmy' dez' dtspry' gzryn thryn 'yk lwqblhwn wqmw w'sthdrw 'thmnyw 'ysryl wbny
The children of Israel were mustered and given provisions, and went against them. The children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of young goats, but the Syrians filled the country.

ܘܩܪܒ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܚܒ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܕܐܡܪܘ ܐ̈ܕܘܡܝܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܕܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܥܘܡܩܐ ܐܫܠܡܝܘܗܝ ܠܗܢܐ ܟܠܗ ܚܝܠܐ ܪܒܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝܟ ܘܬܕܥܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ

A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘Because the Syrians have said, “Yahweh is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am Yahweh.’”

ܘܫܪܘ ܗܠܝܢ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܫܒܥܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ ܘܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܫܒܝܥܝܐ ܘܐܩܪܒܘ ܩܪܒܐ ܘܩܛܠܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܐܕܘܡ ܡܐܐ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܪ̈ܓܠܝܝܢ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܚܕ

They encamped opposite each other for seven days. Then on the seventh day the battle was joined; and the children of Israel killed one hundred thousand footmen of the Syrians in one day.

ܘܥܪܩܘ ܕܐܫܬܚܪܘ ܠܐܦܩ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܢܦܠ ܫܘܪܐ ܥܠ ܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܫܒܥܐ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܕܐܫܬܚܪܘ ܘܒܪܗܕܕ ܥܪܩ ܘܥܠ ܒܓܘ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܬܘܢ ܒܓܘ ܬܘܢ

But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and the wall fell on twenty-seven thousand men who were left. Ben Hadad fled and came into the city, into an inner room.

ܘܩܪܒܘ ܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܠܗ ܗܐ ܫܡܥܢ ܕܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܛܒ̈ܐ ܢܐܣܘܪ ܣ̈ܩܐ ܒܪ̈ܝܫܝܢ ܘܚܒ̈ܠܐ ܒܚ̈ܨܝܢ ܘܢܦܘܩ ܠܘܬ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܛܟ ܢܚܐ ܢܦܫܢ

His servants said to him, “See now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings. Please let us put sackcloth on our bodies and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel. Maybe he will save your life.”

ܘܐܣܪܘ ܣܩ̈ܐ ܒܪ̈ܝܫܝܗܘܢ ܘܚܒ̈ܠܐ ܒܚ̈ܨܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܥܒܕܟ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܐܡܪ ܬܚܐ ܢܦܫܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܥܕܟܝܠ ܩܝܡ ܗܘ ܐܚܝ ܗܘ

So they put sackcloth on their bodies and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, “Your servant Ben Hadad says, ‘Please let me live.’” He said, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

ܘܓܒܪܐ ܢܚܫܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܘܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܪܚܫܘ ܘܐܣܬܪܗܒܘ ܘܦܠܛܘܗܝ ܡܢܗ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܐܚܘܟ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܘܐܡܪ ܙܠܘ ܕܘܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܢܦܩ ܠܘܬܗ ܒܪܗܕܕ ܘܐܘܬܒܗ ܥܡܗ ܒܩܪܘܟܐ

Now the men observed diligently and hurried to take this phrase; and they said, “Your brother Ben Hadad.” Then he said, “Go, bring him.” Then Ben Hadad came out to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܢܣܒ ܐܒܝ ܡܢ ܐܒܘܟ ܐܦܢܐ ܠܟ ܘܫܘܩܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܠܟ ܒܕܪܡܣܘܩ ܐܝܟ ܕܥܒܕ ܐܒܝ ܒܫܡܪܝܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܒܩܝܡܐ ܐܫܕܪܟ ܘܐܩܝܡ ܠܗ ܩܝܡܐ ܘܫܕܪܗ

Ben Hadad said to him, “The cities which my father took from your father I will restore. You shall make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria.” “I”, said Ahab, “will let you go with this covenant.” So he made a covenant with him and let him go.

ܘܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܚܒܪܗ ܒܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܚܝܢܝ ܘܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܢܡܚܝܘܗܝ

A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by Yahweh’s word, “Please strike me!” The man refused to strike him.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܥܠ ܕܠܐ ܫܡܥܬ ܒܩܠܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܗܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܬ ܡܢ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܩܛܠ ܠܟ ܐܪܝܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܡܢ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܐܫܟܚܗ ܐܪܝܐ ܘܩܛܠܗ
wqTlh 'ry' w'shkkhh lwthh mn w'zl 'ry' lk wqTl lwthy mn 'nth 'zl h' 'lhk dmry' bqlh shmeth dl' el lh 'mr
Then he said to him, “Because you have not obeyed Yahweh’s voice, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion will kill you.” As soon as he had departed from him, a lion found him and killed him.

ܘܐܫܟܚ ܓܒܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܚܝܢܝ ܘܡܚܝܗܝ ܓܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܘܨܠܦܗ

Then he found another man, and said, “Please strike me.” The man struck him and wounded him.

ܘܐܙܠ ܢܒܝܐ ܘܩܡ ܩܕܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܥܠ ܝܕ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܚܦܝ ܒܩܛܡܐ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ
'pwhy bqTm' wkhpy 'wrkh' yd el mlk' qdm wqm nby' w'zl
So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.

ܘܗܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܥܒܪ ܘܗܘ ܡܙܥܩ ܩܕܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܥܒܕܟ ܢܦܩ ܒܓܘ ܩܪܒܐ ܘܗܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܣܛܐ ܘܐܝܬܝ ܠܝ ܓܒܪܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܛܪܝܗܝ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܐܢ ܡܛܥܐ ܢܛܥܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܢܦܫܟ ܚܠܦ ܢܦܫܗ ܐܘ ܟܟܪܐ ܕܟܣܦܐ ܬܬܩܘܠ

As the king passed by, he cried to the king, and he said, “Your servant went out into the middle of the battle; and behold, a man came over and brought a man to me, and said, ‘Guard this man! If by any means he is missing, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’

ܘܥܒܕܟ ܥܕ ܡܬܦܢܐ ܠܟܐ ܘܠܟܐ. ܗܘ ܠܝܬܘܗܝ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘ ܕܝܢܟ ܐܢܬ ܦܣܩܬ

As your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” The king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be. You yourself have decided it.”

ܘܐܣܬܪܗܒ ܘܐܥܒܪ ܩܛܡܐ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܘܐܫܬܘܕܥܗ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܡܢ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܗܘ

He hurried, and took the headband away from his eyes; and the king of Israel recognized that he was one of the prophets.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܕܫܕܪܬ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܚ̇ܪܡܐ ܡܢ ܚܕܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܢܦܫܟ ܚܠܦ ܢܦܫܗ ܘܥܡܟ ܚܠܦ ܥܡܗ

He said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will take the place of his life, and your people take the place of his people.’”
